Rovenaud di Val Savaranche

RP15R

Complex renovation of the house in stone and timber, respecting the original shapes and materials.

The Rascard is from 1660. The wooden castle barn overlooks -as usual- the stone base while an unusual long fireplace overhanging the façade.

The house is a former multi-functional farm house, located in the Western Alps. Multifunctional, as only one roof covered the house, the stable, the barn and the granary. In the old times domestic functions were never completely separate.
In the renovation of the old house, the general interior layout was changed and the house lost its rustic character acquiring a modern appearance.
The interior layout includes the living area on the first floor with the living area and kitchen, while the sleeping area are on the ground floor.
The building envelope is made by local materials used to respect the traditions and local needs including the building in the landscape as part of it.
